Hakan Altintepe

Hakan Altintepe is a technology strategy and digital transformation adviser to senior executives at global enterprises. For over 20 years, he has focused on maximizing the business value of technology.

Mr. Altintepe is the founder of Technology for Alpha LLC. Previously, he was a managing director at Accenture, a global technology consulting and services company; an engagement manager at A.T. Kearney, a global operations strategy firm; and a software architect at Nortel, a telecommunications equipment provider. 

Mr. Altintepe has designed and implemented numerous enterprise IT operating models at global companies and leading regional enterprises with up to 15,000 FTEs, $4B IT operating expense, and $2.5B program budget. He specializes in IT organization transformation, continuous flow operating model design and implementation, legacy modernization, and technology investment planning / portfolio management.

Mr. Altintepe holds an MBA degree from Carnegie Mellon University and M.A.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering
from the University of Ottawa. He is also a
Certified SAFe® 4 Lean Portfolio Manager (LPM).



US Reinsurance – Technology Strategy: Facilitated C-suite discussions to articulate firm’s vision, strategy, technology imperatives and investment roadmap

Global Bank – Agile Development: Assessed the strategic alignment and financial health of a multi-billion dollar core banking implementation program. Guided senior leaders to reform program’s  governance, organization, methodology and management controls

Multi-National Insurance – Digital Transformation: For the enterprise-wide advanced analytics group, formulated an enterprise data strategy and a data management operating model

Global Payments Company – Infrastructure Transformation: Designed an enterprise-wide shared services model  focusing on infrastructure operations, production support, and technology product management functions

Global Wealth Management Company – Technology Strategy: Designed the market data technology operations model. Developed the business case of a 5-year transformation program valued over $500 million

Global Investment Bank – Infrastructure Transformation: Guided the executive IT committee through the design of the operating model for a 4,000 FTE strong infrastructure organization

Global Investment Bank – Application Portfolio Optimization: Formulated a three year cost efficiency program. Scope included business application portfolio optimization ($500 million/year), release deployment (200 FTEs), and software asset management ($50 million/year)

Global Investment Bank – Workforce Strategy: Guided the design of a global center of excellence transformation program impacting 5,000 FTEs. Defined operating models (in-house/ captive/ outsourced) and location strategies (on-shore/ near-shore/ off-shore)

Global Investment Bank – IT Strategy and Transformation: Formulated an IT operating model for a 15,000 FTE group technology organization.  Defined organizational accountabilities, interactions and governance structures covering business and enterprise CIOs

US Insurance Company – IT Transformation: Defined a workforce strategy for a 2,000 FTE application development group. Redefined investment planning, demand management, supply/ demand balancing, resource management and delivery management processes

Global Investment Bank – Technology Strategy: Identified a 10-15% savings opportunity on a $550 million enterprise software annual spend baseline
